What is NDIS?
- The National Disability Insurance Scheme, also known as the NDIS, is an Australian Government initiative that is revolutionizing disability support by providing flexible, person-centred services to people with permanent and severe disabilities. Launched in 2013, the NDIS represents a major shift in access to disability care, allowing participants to have more control over the support they receive.
Key Pillars of NDIS
01
CHOICE AND CONTROL
At the heart of NDIS is the principle of choice and control. Participants have the freedom to select their preferred services and supports, tailoring them to their individual needs and goals.
02
INDIVIDUALISED PLANNING
NDIS plans are personalised, reflecting each participant’s unique circumstances, aspirations, and aspirations. These plans outline the necessary supports to achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life.
03
INCLUSION AND COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION
NDIS aims to create a more inclusive society where people with disabilities can actively participate in their communities, access educational opportunities, and engage in social and recreational activities.
Early Intervention: NDIS places a strong emphasis on early intervention to address the needs of young children with developmental delays and disabilities, supporting them in their formative years.

How NDIS Works
01
ACCESS AND ELIGIBILITY
To become an NDIS participant, individuals must meet specific eligibility criteria, ensuring that the scheme supports those with significant and permanent disabilities. For more information click here
02
PLANNING AND ASSESSMENT
Once deemed eligible, participants collaborate with Local Area Coordinators or NDIA planners to develop their NDIS plan based on their unique goals and requirements.
03
IMPLEMENTATION AND REVIEW
Participants put their plans into action, accessing approved services and supports. NDIS plans are reviewed periodically to ensure they remain relevant and responsive to changing needs.
